Gemstone Info: Peridot is the August Birthstone. The name peridot is believed to come from the Arabic word for gem “faridat”. Peridot is also known as chrysolite or olivine.

It is often found in lava that has been shot out from volcanoes and has been found in lunar rocks and meteorites.

Healing Properties: Peridot is thought to combat envy and resentment and to transform negative feelings into positive. It is said to improve the immune system.
